This and That

*My Dad completed round one of chemo with no side effects.  Thank you for praying for him and please continue!

*Kidlet Three made the baseball team tryouts for his high school's 9th grade team.  They have been practicing for almost a month INSIDE because of the snow and rain we've had.  Finally this week they were able to play two games.  Game one they won 11-4 and game two they won 18-7.

*I worked from home today with the outside temperature reaching a high of 71.  All my windows were open and I got so much work done listening to the birds chirping outside.

*Garlic & cheddar cheese biscuits.  I made them for supper tonight and they were nummy.  Too bad they are not fat free...

*Grandbaby Claire is a month old.  She was born weighing 5 pounds 6 ounces.  Today Kidlet One texted me to say Claire now weighs 8 pounds 2 ounces!

*It is already five months ago that I had total knee surgery.  I have no arthritis pain in that knee anymore.  What a blessing that is!  I gave up using the cane about a month ago but I still have a limp so I'm working on changing my walking.  Daily I ride an exercise bike as the stiffness in my knee hasn't gone away and I still get swelling.  The last hurdle I face is walking up stairs.  I've been going up one stair at a time except for the past 2 weeks.  Now I hang on for dear life but I walk up the stairs in our house like a normal person (just very slowly).

*Isn't this the most random of posts...

*Back to my knee, I also walked around the block tonight.  I haven't been able to do that for years. Walking was so painful and my knee would throb afterwards.  I can finally say I am thankful for the surgery!

*Tomorrow we travel to a Close City for Kidlet Three's baseball game.  It will be fun to dig out the suntan lotion because the forecast is for a warm, sunny day.  It will be a perfect day to be at a ballpark.

*Kidlet Three has the TV clicker and is switching between a hockey game and a baseball game.  He clicks so fast between them I'm almost getting dizzy.

*Now that you are bored and ready to click away from this posting, I'll end.   Look for something amazing in your day and thank God for it!

Chemo Begins

Tomorrow my Dad begins his chemo.  Last week he had surgery to have a PowerPort catheter placed in his chest so the IV chemo can go in there.   Our family has this funny habit of naming things like Happy Honda for the family car.  So when I asked Dad what he wanted to call this port he threw me off when he promptly said "Power Port".  I told him that sounded like a Super Man term so I've decided to call it the Super Man Power Port.  My Dad is a Super Man so the name fits!

We are all trying to keep a happy, positive attitude as this new adventure or as my Mom calls it, The Journey, begins.  Cancer and chemo are big words that cause new journeys.

Over and over the past few weeks I've had the following Bible verse almost thrown at me.  A friend sent me a greeting card with the verse written out.  Another friend prayed for my Dad with me and prayed the exact verse.  On Monday, The Verse kept coming to my mind.  Over and over it ran through my thoughts.

My amazing God wanted my attention and He used multiple sources to finally get it.

Once I read The Verse in different Bible versions, it became very clear that this is a key verse to proclaim as The Journey of Chemo Begins.

No matter where you are in life and what is going on around you, I bet this verse will touch your heart, mind and soul as it did with me.

Joshua 1:9 in the New International Version
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

In the New Life Version, the verse is written like this:
Have I not told you? Be strong and have strength of heart! Do not be afraid or lose faith. For the Lord your God is with you anywhere you go.

And from a version of the Bible I've never heard of, The Voice version, it is written:
This is My command: be strong and courageous. Never be afraid or discouraged because I am your God, the Eternal One, and I will remain with you wherever you go.

Praise God, the One that keeps me amazed!

All This Time

This afternoon I was at my desk with my headphones on listening to Pandora while I worked, worked worked.  I was on task and getting a lot done. You might giggle when I tell you I had the TobyMac radio on which plays songs from TobyMac but other artists that have a similar 'sound'.

Well, a song came on that I hadn't heard before but it caused me to stop working as the words pierced my heart.  That and the beautiful, clear voice that was singing.

I love how God gets my attention.

The song is called All This Time.

I went searching and found a YouTube video of Britt Nicole singing her song.

It could be a song of my life.

Watch and listen to a truth that is evident in my life, too.

Amazing!

Go to hell for you...

From Grace For the Moment, Inspirational Thoughts for Each Day of the Year by Max Lucado

April 3
Then Jesus went about a stone's throw away from them.  He kneeled down and prayed. Luke 22:41

The final prayer of Jesus was about you.  His final pain was for you.  His final passion was for you.  Before he went to the cross, Jesus went to the garden.  And when he spoke with his Father, you were in his prayers....

And God couldn't turn his back on you....

On the eve of the cross, Jesus made his decision.  He would rather go to hell for you than go to heaven without you.

Simply amazing.
What Jesus did for you.
And for me.
I remain...amazed.
